Now that is a good question - what should we do? Sometimes the correct answer is not what we want. Consider: "7 Acts of Submission". 1. To the Triune God. We surrender our body, mind, and spirit into the hands of God to do with us as he pleases. 2. To Scripture. As we submit ourselves to the Word of God living (Jesus), so we submit ourselves to the Word of God written (Scripture). To hear the Word, to receive the Word, to obey the Word. | Here are words of wisdom from Mother Theresa, The Joy in Loving: A Guide to Daily Living: To speak as little as possible of one's self. To mind one's own business. Not to want to manage other people's affairs. To avoid curiosity. To accept contradictions and correction cheerfully. To pass over the mistakes of others. To accept insults and injuries. To accept being slighted, forgotten and disliked. To be kind and gentle even under provocation. Never to stand on one's dignity. To choose always the hardest. |
4. To our neighbors and those we meet in the course of our daily lives. If they are in need, we help. We perform small acts of kindness.
5. To the believing community. There are jobs to be done and tasks to be accomplished. Spontaneous opportunities for tasks of service.
6. To the broken and despised, the helpless and undefended. We must discover ways to identify genuinely with the downtrodden, the rejected.
7. To the world. Our act of submission is a determination to live as a responsible member of an increasingly irresponsible world.
