All religions perceive the evil in human kind and the separation from God that we experience. They know that there is a shroud of sin and evil that covers all. There is no access to God by our own effort. We are saved freely by the grace of God as a gift bought by the loving action of Jesus Christ in His death and resurrection. We’re receivers of the generous, undeserved, precious will of God who loves and saves us freely. “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.“ (Romans 5:1).
"For by grace you have been saved through faith and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast". (Ephesians.2:8-9)

On this Lords day, we have the opportunity to gather with the people of God and find the Lord coming toward us in the word proclaimed and in the bread and wine which bring us Christ’s own body and blood. The wonder of grace is that God continues to come among us again and again with the assurance that in Christ we will find meaning, hope, forgiveness, the love of God alive, a love for each one of us. Welcome him into your heart by faith and find that all the promises of God are summed up in the One who came, in the One who comes to us still, and in the One who will yet come again.
As we work our way toward Christmas, we all can have some hectic days and we have to be careful of us taking our frustrations out on others. So Advent is a good time to recall the simple virtue of kindness - one of the fruits of the Spirit. We therefore need to remember that everyone of God's children is a precious person to be treated with respect and with kindness.
