“This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”
As I pondered his words, I jotted down the following: We as Christians know the Lord's Prayer but do we think of what these words are and mean as we pursue our faith? Pastor Stanley said that we can never be perfect but wouldn't we all like to come as close as we can so that we are not ashamed of our life when we stand before God? The words - "Your will be done" are easy to say but in most cases,
as we look at ourselves, it is more like "my will be done".
As he talked, I wondered how we all feel as we take on the days of our lives. Do we compromise our faith actions because of the world and its distractions, and how it consumes us? I know as I thought on this more, I want to remember the next time I say the Lord's Prayer, that I truly understand, appreciate and desire what we state - what we pray. For if we do want His will to be done, we need to honestly pursue our faith, to deny ourself, our wants, etc that distract us from our faith. Easy, no. Good to pursue, yes.
