The Book Song of Solomon is the twenty-second book of the Bible as we wrap up our review of the wisdom & poetry section.
Who wrote Song of Solomon and when?
It is attributed to King Solomon but many believe it is written in tribute to him for the wisdom on love conveyed. It was written around 965 BC.
What is it all about?
At a minimum this book (also known as 'Song of Songs') could be viewed as a love poem but in looking at it deeper, we see so much more.
Jewish tradition reads it as an allegory of the relationship between God and Israel, in Christianity it is viewed as an allegory of Christ and of His love for His bride – the church.
Why should we know this? If we take those words above for a starting point and we study this book, we can see God's love for us and we are reminded to pursue our love for God as well as for our mate.
"I have found the one whom my soul loves.” Song of Solomon 3:4
