The Book of Ezekiel is the twenty-sixth book of the Bible as our review of the 'Major Prophets' section of the Bible continues:
Who wrote Ezekiel and when?
It was written by Ezekiel in the 587-565 BC time frame.
What is it all about?
Ezekiel wrote to share his visions, prophecy and a warning to the Israelites who were struggling in captivity (his people then in their rebellion was worse then those who rebelled in the Exodus time). Their rebellion and sinful ways were so bad that the Spirit of God could no longer stay in the Temple built for Him [God] in Jerusalem. They and those around them would suffer from God's judgements (His justice is needed and His plans will prevail).
Why should we know this? From his writings we learn to confront our sins, to ask God for His forgiveness and to stay in hope.
”I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and I will give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26
